Suspicious Person Sought

Suspect Steals Beer

May 30, the store manager at Kroger on Peachtree Parkway called in a shoplifting incident. An employee witnessed the theft and it was caught on video surveillance.

A black man approximately 6’0”, 230 lbs., in black shorts and a white t-shirt pushed a shopping cart to the beer isle where he placed 12 cases of Corona and Heineken beer in his cart and then exited the store. He was seen driving away in a white Chevrolet Venture van. The Georgia license plate is BSG1522.

Violators Issued Citations at West Bank Park

May 29 and 30, mounted patrol deputies at West Bank Park issued at least 15 citations for Possession of Liquor over a two-day period. It is unlawful to have alcohol in your car, cooler, or any other place inside a Forsyth County Park including any U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Parks. One arrest was made for Possession of Marijuana.

Morning Accident Ends In Arrest

May 28, a deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Georgia 400 and Majors Road at approximately 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival he discovered a grey Toyota Tundra was tangled up in the wires of the median divider.

The driver, a 54-year-old male stated that he left his lane, over corrected and lost control of his vehicle. The driver with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech admitted to the deputy that he had smoked marijuana several hours earlier.

When asked if he was using any other drugs, the suspect stated “yes, all kinds of them, but I don’t want to discuss it, there is no point." A search of his vehicle yielded a marijuana joint inside a metal case. He was arrested for Driving under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Marijuana and Failure to Maintain Lane.

“Lenox Collection” Patio Set Stolen

May 28, a wicker outdoor “Lenox Collection” patio set was stolen off the front porch of 5310 Mashburn Drive along with four flower pots. The homeowner stated when she left her home earlier in the day the set was there and when she returned the set was missing. The deputy found two of the flower pots at the end of the steps broken.

Suspicious Person Sought

May 28, authorities are looking for a white man with short brown hair and pot hole marks on his face in the company of a three-year-old girl. The suspect approached a homeowner at 2735 Wynbrook Bend while he was working inside his garage.

He asked him for money to buy medicine for his child. The owner went inside to get money and returned to find the man standing beside a dresser in the garage. After giving him $4.00 the man left. The owner then noticed his cell phone was missing and called it in. There were several calls on the same day in reference to the man and his child.

Driver Leaves with Gas Nozzle Still Attached

May 27, an officer for the was dispatched to Al’s Quick Stop on Dahlonega Road. The complaint--a customer had driven off with the gas nozzle. An employee told the officer that the man then got out of his car and threw the gas nozzle down on the ground and then drove off. Estimated cost to repair the pump is $2700.

357 Magnum Pistol Stolen

May 25, a homeowner on Pilgrim Mill Way reported that when she arrived home the door of her home was partially open. Reported missing was a stainless steel S&W 357 Magnum pistol that had never been fired. Oddly enough they did not take any of the televisions, cameras, laptops or even the ammunition.

Employee Who Got Second Chance Is Now a Wanted Man

May 24, it was reported that an employee of the Shell Gas Station on Canton Highway was sent to make a bank deposit in the amount of $1379 and he never returned. The owner told the deputy that he had video surveillance of the employee using an unknown credit card after hours to charge lottery tickets in addition to removing cash.

The owner of the station had confronted the employee about his suspicions and the man allegedly admitted to thefts of more than $50,000 and asked him to not fire him and he would repay the money.

The suspects name is Dara Khan, an Asian Indian male, 50-years, -old, 5’6”, approximately 200 lbs., stocky build, short black hair, brown eyes and a moustache and slight beard. He was seen driving a 2007 black Nissan Pathfinder with Georgia tag 9699APJ. Any information please contact the .

Fire

Caption Jason Shivers of the reported that for the week of May 23-May 30 there were a total of 253 calls. This is the highest incident total so far this year. This is partially due to the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The calls consisted of one structure fire, one vehicle fire, one off-road equipment fire, three brush fires, 155 medical emergencies, two gas spills, one natural gas leak, eight downed power lines, five unauthorized burning calls, 26 cancelled in route, two smoke scares, 16 false alarms, five no incidents found and one lightening strike with no injuries. In addition there was one boat fire on Memorial Day which resulted in no injuries.

Forsyth County had two near drownings on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30. The separate incidents involved young children that were in pools. Only one needed to be sent to Children’s Healthcare for treatment.
