Unlicensed Dentist Pleads Guilty in Forsyth County Court

Marvin Efren Sandoval, 37, of Cumming, is an illegal immigrant.

A Cumming man Friday pleaded guilty to practicing dentistry without a license in a Forsyth County home.

Marvin Efren Sandoval, 37, an illegal immigrant, said he could make more money in America than in his native Guatemala, where he was trained and licensed, according to the Forsyth County News. Sandoval—who had been operating out of the home on Dawsonville Highway for about six months—as a result a negotiated deal with prosecutors was sentenced by a Superior Court judge to three years of probation, 120 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine, which could affect his immigration status.

Authorities were looking for someone else in the home when they found a dental machine, X-ray machine and other equipment, according to the newspaper.

Sandoval's arrest wasn't the first of its kind in Forsyth County.

Back in 2010, Forsyth County sheriff's deputies raided the Willis Road trailer home of Eli Sandoval-Rodas, then 37, who authorities say may have practicing illegal dentistry and medicine there without a license for some five years, according to WSB-TV. He also was accused of giving women contraceptives out of his doublewide mobile home, Access North Georgia reported.
