Firefighters responding to a house fire early Sunday morning found a woman's body inside the residence, according to authorities.

Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said fire crews were dispatched around 1:08 a.m. to 5145 Shady Grove Road in northeast Forsyth County where a fire was burning a single-family house.

"Upon the initial attack [of the fire] and initial search of the home our firefighters did find the body of a deceased 40-year-old victim," he said.

The body of Elise Jeanette Chrisley was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab where an autopsy was performed on Monday. The cause of her death is unknown at the time of this writing.

"Her next of kin has been notified and family is here in town making arrangements for her services," said Shivers.

Shivers also said firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly and that the fire was small compared to the size of the home.

While the fire is currently under investigation by the Forsyth County Fire Department and Sheriff's Office to determine both the cause and origin, the damage done to the house is less than 50 percent.

"The house does have smoke and water damage throughout," Shivers said. "But the structure itself is likely salvageable."
