Some of the Items in Jewelry Heist Returned

Authorities return about $300,000 in jewelry that was recovered in the multi-million dollar burglary at Milano Fine Jewelry.

held a second press conference Thursday morning concerning the continued investigation of the burglary that happened late September.

Paxton said about $300,000 in jewelry has been recovered and returned to the owners of the Cumming business. Among the items returned was a 4.05-carat diamond belonging to a customer of Milano's. The diamond, a family heirloom, is valued at more than $30,000.

Paxton said since the investigation began, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the sheriff's office, issued 60 different search warrants and there have been eight arrests. He also said there are warrants for at least two more suspects, with more pending.

The jewelry recovered was located at eight locations throughout the metro Atlanta area, including inside a safety deposit box at a Wells Fargo bank branch in Lovejoy, Ga., a storage rental unit and several vehicles.

Paxton also said that, "there are so many players" connected to this burglary, and others across several states, that there is "not really a leader."

Authorities here are working with law enforcement officials in DeKalb County, Gainesville and Jefferson, Ga., Lexington, S.C., Nashville, Tenn., Birmingham and Auburn, Ala., and Fort Worth, Texas.

made their way into the jewelry store by breaking into an adjoining vacant building and cutting out a hole. After gaining entry, between $2.6 to $2.8 million worth of merchandise and personal items were taken from the business.
