Buford Dam Road 'Still' Closed, But Not For Long

Buford Dam Road from Sanders Road to Marketplace Boulevard remains closed to traffic as crews continue working on that stretch of road, but is projected to reopen soon.

Crews are scheduled to begin the paving operation Wednesday, June 1, and should have that completed by Saturday, June 4, according to Jimmy Vaughn, Project Manager with Moreland Altobelli and the City of Cumming.

"Now depending on when we get through, it could be Saturday morning or Saturday night, but Saturday, the 4th, we plan to try and open the road to two-lane traffic," he said. "We'll still have construction along the road, but the road will be opened back up for through traffic."

The more than $3.8 million project also includes construction along the section of Buford Dam Road from Highway 9/20, over Georgia 400, and down to Marketplace Boulevard, but that area is open to traffic.

The entire project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2011.
