Candidates Qualify For County, State, Federal Offices

Though the campaign season in Forsyth County began months ago, candidates made it official last week.

The election season is officially underway with all 2012 Forsyth County candidates, all Republican, qualifying, according to the Voter Registrations & Elections department. No candidates qualified with the Democratic Party.

There was one brief bump in the road in regards to the candidates running for sheriff. Questions were raised over whether or not all of the Republican candidates, incumbent , and challengers  and , qualified as candidates for the race.

But by late Tuesday the matter was settled with Barbara Luth, supervisor of Forsyth County Voter Registrations and Elections department .

Candidates running for state and federal offices also qualified.

Residents who have not registered to vote have until July 2 to do so for the General Primary on July 31.

Early and advance voting begins Monday, July 9.
