Forsyth County Republicans Hold Convention, Elect Chair

The Forsyth County GOP elects a new chairman and a new executive board.

The Forsyth County Republican Party (FCRP) recently elected a new chairman, and he promises to help the party stay on message all year long so they can win elections.

The Republicans held their annual convention at South Forsyth High School. The purpose of the gathering was to elect a new executive board and chairman.

Bradley Wilkins, the former vice chairman, will now serve as the party's new chairman. In his new role some of the duties will include the management and oversight of all Republican events and activities in the county, such as the Mass Precinct Meeting and County Convention. The chairman position also executes the local GOP strategy for public outreach and communicates Republican principles and their platform to voters in Forsyth County.

The term that lasts for two years will also include managing the qualification process for Republican candidates prior to the primary elections.

"Once the general election season begins, we work with Republican candidates from the local, state and national level to ensure victory for Republicans in Forsyth County," said Wilkins.

As he begins his new responsibilities, his main focus will be to help Republicans win elections.

"To make that happen, we need to stay on message all year long," Wilkins said. "We will continue to reach out to new voters to grow the Republican Party and we will do so while staying true to the values that already attract more than 80 percent of the voters here in Forsyth County."

A new executive board also was elected, including: Amanda Nixon, First Vice Chair; Joel Natt, Second Vice Chair; Dennis Brown, Treasurer; Robert Rorke, Recording Secretary; and Sheri Gilligan, Corresponding Secretary.

Convention attendees and delegates also heard from state leaders Sen. Jack Murphy (R-District 27), Rep. Mark Hamilton, (R-District 23), Rep. Geoff Duncan, (R-District 26) and Rep. Mike Dudgeon, (R-District 24), who chaired this year's convention. The four officials presented a resolution honoring outgoing Chairman Ethan Underwood’s many years of service to the Republican Party.

Other business of the day included the election of delegates and alternates to the 7th and 9th Congressional district and state conventions. The FCRP says these delegates will have an opportunity to vote on district and state officers at the conventions and help determine the future success of the Republican Party.

"I am truly blessed to be given this opportunity to serve," Wilkins added. "Republicans here in Forsyth County are some of the finest people I know, and I look forward to working with all Republicans across the county for the next two years."
