Forsyth County Tea Party Endorses Local Candidates

Candidates running in local races get a stamp of approval by the Forsyth County Tea Party.

The Forsyth County Tea Party (FCTP) has endorsed several candidates in local races, according to a recent announcement.

During the party's monthly meeting Monday, a vote was taken to endorse candidates in the races for the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, the Forsyth County Sheriff, State House District 26 and State Senate District 27. 

The announcement also states, "Because the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners District 4 race will likely result in a run-off, an endorsement in that particular race is being delayed."

The following candidates endorsed by the party include:

As a result of his bid for the State Senate seat, Steve Voshall had previously announced his resignation as Chairman, but addressed the members thanking them for their support over the past three years and encouraging them to continue their important work in transforming politics from the county on up.

In addition, the 2013-2014 officers were elected as follows:

  • Chairman – Hal Schneider (effective immediately)
  • First Chair – Ralph Stepp
  • Second Chair – Patrick Gilligan
  • Treasurer – Joe Macarthur

The party also voted unanimously to officially oppose . The transportation referendum will appear on the July 31 primary ballot.
