Forsyth Finance Department Receives Budget Award

The department won the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The Forsyth County Finance Department was recently awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The organization honored the agency for its 2013 budget book. The finance department's employees were recognized by the Forsyth County Commission during its July 2 meeting.

Forsyth Director of Finance and CFO David Gruen recognized the four county employees — Amanda Ream, Kristy Manley and Amina Cephus of the Finance Department and Logan Thomas of the Department of Communications — who played a hand in the county getting the award.

In order to receive the award, the county had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation, according to a county press release.

"These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device," according to Forsyth County.
