Forsyth Wants Shopping Center Property for a Parking Deck

The Board of Commissioners scheduled a public hearing on exercising eminent domain powers to get the land.

Forsyth County wants a parking deck in downtown Cumming, but they can't reach an agreement on the price to buy the Pilgrim Square Shopping Center property needed. So the Board of Commissioners plans to exercise its power of eminent domain to get the land.

The county announced its public hearing on the condemnation proceeding for public purposes for the land at 108 Pilgrim Village Drive, Cumming, near the intersection of Pilgrim Mill Road and East Main Street in Cumming. It is identified as Parcel Number C16 041 according to records on file with the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors.

The county and the city of Cumming have entered into an intergovernmental agreement on the purchase of the property for the parking deck.
