Meet Third Candidate Running for County Coroner

Mark Musselwhite, a licensed funeral director and embalmer, enters race for Forsyth County Coroner.

Mark Musselwhite, a licensed funeral director and embalmer at , announced Friday that he is a candidate for Forsyth County Coroner.

“I want to be Forsyth County’s Coroner. I have a desire to serve my community and to help others, offering compassion to the living and reverence for the deceased," said Musselwhite in a news release.

Musselwhite is a member of the Forsyth County Tea Party Patriots and says he understands the need for fiscal responsibility in government. He offers ideas that equate to cost savings for taxpayers — ideas for manageability and productivity, such as implementing a data management system and working with intergovernmental agencies and neighboring counties to share resources.

“I will conduct an extensive review of the budget, necessary costs, and operating procedures to determine cuts that can be made while maintaining the highest quality standards," he said.

“Not unlike that of a licensed funeral director and embalmer, the coroner’s job is both physically and emotionally taxing. He must be accessible and maintain a balance of professionalism and compassion when interacting with family and friends of the deceased."

Musselwhite believes the coroner must remain objective and work in harmony with investigators and medical professionals to determine cause and manner of death.

"As a faith-driven, fiscal conservative, I will serve as Forsyth County’s Coroner with compassion, integrity, and objectivity," he said.

Musselwhite earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Georgia College & State University. He has worked in sales and in customer service "before answering his calling to the death care industry."

Musselwhite and his wife, Jessica, live in south Forsyth County with their daughter, Brooke.
