To kick off the Labor Day holiday, Sept. 2-6, 2013 is proclaimed as Civic Participation Week in Forsyth County.

The week serves as a time to encourage county residents to participate in their community by volunteering their time and talent, contributing to worthy organizations or causes, communicating their ideas, and voting.

β€œDuring this week, American democracy and civic participation will be showcased in honor of the courageous spirit of the American people, and tribute will be paid to those souls lost in the fight for freedom of the American people,” said Commission Chairman R.J. (Pete) Amos.

Civic Participation Week was proclaimed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners during their regular meeting on Aug. 15.
