Newt's Out, Two Left in Bid for Republican Nomination

With the campaign suspension announcement of Georgia's own Newt Gingrich on Wednesday afternoon, the field of Republican candidates is narrowed significantly.

Gingrich made his official announcement on Wednesday, according to reports by The Huffington Post.

Though the race began slowly during 2011 packed with hopefuls, including Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, now just Mitt Romney and Ron Paul remain as official Republican candidates for the party's nomination.

According to delegate counts on Real Clear Politics, Romney's delegate count is 865, in comparison to Paul's 93.
