Planning Meeting Tonight On County Green Space Properties

Residents are invited to offer their input during an open discussion meeting on the master planning of seven green space properties.

The first of two public information meetings will be held tonight at 7 p.m. regarding a proposed master plan of several green space properties in the county.

During the public information meeting tonight, hosted by the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, the master planning of the Harrison, McClure, Buice and Echols Road properties will be discussed. The second meeting, scheduled for April 19, will look at the master planning of Sawnee Mountain Preserve Phase III, and the Eagle’s Beak and Lanierland properties.

“We know there is a great deal of interest among our citizens about the future plans for these green space properties,” said Jerry Kinsey, Director of Parks and Recreation, in a press release. “We welcome and invite all interested residents to attend these meetings and offer their input.”

All of the properties that will be discussed at the planning meetings, except Sawnee Mountain Preserve, were purchased through the $100 million Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond approved by voters in 2008.

“We appreciate the support of the voters, enabling the county to acquire these properties and preserve them for future generations,” said Kinsey.
