Retired U.S. Army Colonel Announces Campaign for County Commission in District 2

Candidate says slashing reckless spending and generating non-tax revenue will be among his highest priorities.

Dennis T. Brown, a retired United States Army Colonel, announced Wednesday, Jan. 18, that he will campaign for a seat on the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners in District 2, according to a news release.

who currently represents District 2, will complete his second term this year. Cumming Patch is reaching out to Commissioner Tam to find out if he will seek re-election.

Brown, 51, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, retired last year after 30 years of service.

"My whole life has been about serving my country," Brown said. "Now that I've retired, it would be an honor and a privilege to serve my county as well."

A lifetime member of the national Republican Party, he is also a member of the Forsyth County Republican Party, the Forsyth County Tea Party, a graduate of Leadership Forsyth and Republican Leadership for Georgia. He graduates this month from the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute.

During his final year in the military, Brown served as Chief of Staff at Camp Alamo, a forward operating base in Afghanistan where he commanded 300 soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. He has held the military's highest top secret security clearance since 1988.

Brown said slashing reckless spending, generating non-tax revenue, involving citizens in the decision-making process and providing transparency in government will be among his highest priorities.

He and wife Susan live in Lakeside Farms subdivision in south Forsyth County and both are active members of .
