Voter Registration Deadline Today

Today is the last day you can register to vote in the March 6 primary.

The voter registration deadline for the 2012 Presidential Preference Primary is today, Monday, Feb. 6. The General Primary Election will be held on March 6.  

To register to vote in Georgia, you must be: a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote, and at least 18 years of age by Election Day.

Voter registration forms are available on the Forsyth County Government Web site. If you move to a new county, you will need to re-register. The same form is used for voter registration, address change and/or name change. If you are registering for the first time in Georgia, you must provide one of the following forms of identification:

  • Georgia driver's license, even if it's expired
  • Valid state or federal government issued photo ID or valid U.S. passport
  • Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state.
  • Valid U.S. military photo ID or valid Tribal photo

In-person advance voting for the 2012 presidential preference primary will begin Monday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Forsyth County Administration Building located at 110 E. Main Street in downtown Cumming. 

Absentee voting by mail for the presidential preference primary continues through close of business on Friday, March 2.

Forsyth County residents who would like to vote by mail must first submit a written request to the Board of Voter Registrations and Elections Office by mail, e-mail of a scanned copy, fax or personal delivery. Print an Application for Official Absentee Ballot and for information on where to submit your completed application.
