High School Course Description:
In this course, students will discover how public speaking, note taking, grammar, mechanics and usage rules, and proper writing skills relate to effective communication in general. Families will have the opportunity to choose between topics generated by NGWA or those already being studied at home to produce college level writing and to prepare for a successful collegiate experience. The composition component of this Literature/Composition Class will focus upon Expository, Persuasive, and Research Skills and will weave grammar skills, vocabulary enrichment, and peer and self editing techniques all throughout. Homework will be necessary and will range from 1 to 2 hours per week, depending on the type of writing assignment given for that week. Class is best suited for students age 14+.
