First Day of School - How Did it Go?

More than 38,000 students within the district’s 36 schools returned to the classroom Thursday kicking off the first day of the 2012-13 school year, according to Forsyth County Schools.

So that poses the question – how did the first day of school go for your children and how did you manage that first hectic day?

• I am a Forsyth County Special Needs school Bus Driver and I have a great day meeting my new students and getting them to and from school safely! - Susan Reeves Wood

• We had a great first day. They got to know their teachers and schedules and I got to start my annual purging of the toy box. - Lynn Wyche Dotson

• We had a great day minus one bus coming 15 mins EARLY on the first day of school! Everyone got off to a great start and had a great day! Which is amazing considering all my kids are in different schools... Elm, middle, and high. And the baby and I, well we took a 3 hour nap on the couch together! :) I always take off the first day of school! - Jennifer Leone Workman

• The sixth grade teachers at Lakeside Middle did a great job making my daughter, Sophie, feel welcomed and motivated. We have been so blessed by all the wonderful teachers that she has had in FoCo since grade K. Love our schools and teachers! - Vicki Tucker

• We homeschool. Started out by reading on the couch in our PJ's followed by some history and math later in the afternoon. And my 10 year old loves her teacher. ;) - Carrie Patterson

• All 3 of my children were redistricted to new school this year. My two girls to the new Kelly Mill Elementary & my son to Otwell. Everyone came home happy & excited to go back tomorrow [Friday] which makes happy parents! - Beth Bowen Tauriello

• We had three get on the bus today [Thursday] for Mashburn, K, 1st, 2nd. All had great days. Saw old friends and made new ones. Mainly remember only lunch, recess, gym, and math from today and are still ready to hit it again tomorrow. Hoping the year goes slowly but I'm afraid if I blink I'll miss it. - Julie Faig
