Forsyth BOE Names New Principals at FCHS and WFHS

Current West Forsyth High School Principal Betty Pope and Forsyth Central High School Principal Rudy Hampton set to retire at the end of the year.

The Forsyth County Board of Education recently announced the appointment of two new high school principals.

Heather Gordy, who currently serves as assistant principal at Lambert High School, will be the principal of West Forsyth High School, effective July 1, 2014.

Current principal Betty Pope is retiring this year.

Gordy has served as an assistant principal at Lambert High School and South Forsyth High School since 2007. Prior, she taught AP U.S. History, American Government and Economics at Forsyth Central High School.

Gordy has additional teaching experience in two other Georgia school systems. She received her professional degrees from the University of Alabama and Kennesaw State University. 

And Mitch Young, the current assistant principal at West Forsyth High School, will be the principal at Forsyth Central High School, effective July 1,2014.

Current principal Rudy Hampton is retiring this year.

Young has served as an assistant principal at West Forsyth High School and Lambert High School since 2010. He began his career in Forsyth County as a social studies teacher, AP coordinator and administrative assistant at West Forsyth High School in 2007. 

Mitch has additional teaching and coaching experience in Gwinnett County and at the college level. He received his professional degrees from Florida State University and the University of Georgia.

The Forsyth County Board of Education took the opportunity to "wish Heather and Mitch continued success in their future roles, and congratulate Betty and Rudy on their retirements."
