Forsyth County Schools: School Alert for Staff

A winter weather advisory remains in effect from 10 p.m. until noon Monday.

The holiday break for students continues through Monday, Jan. 6 in Forsyth County, but due to a winter advisory all staff should report to work at 9 a.m. or whenever conditions permit, according to Jennifer Caracciolo of Forsyth County Schools.

"Monday, January 6, 2014 is a professional development day for employees of Forsyth County Schools (no school for students)," she wrote in an e-mail.

The National Weather Service reports, windy tonight with a chance of rain early then rain likely in the late evening and early morning. There is a chance of snow and sleet late with little or no snow and sleet accumulation. The low's will be in the mid 20s. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph shifting to the northwest 20 to 25 mph after midnight with gusts up to 40 mph. The chance of precipitation is calling for a 70 percent chance tonight.

On Monday mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow showers in the morning then mostly sunny in the afternoon and windy. Highs in the upper 20s. Wind chill readings around zero. Monday night is calling for clear skies, windy and much colder and a low around 5 degrees. Wind chill readings around 10 below zero.
