Forsyth Schools, Pinecrest Decide on Early Release

Snow showers are expected Tuesday.

Pinecrest Academy, 955 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming, also is closing early.

"Due to expected inclement weather this afternoon, students in the Lower, Middle and High Schools will all be released at 12:30 p.m.," a post on the school's Facebook page reads. "There is no Aftercare this afternoon, and all athletic events—games and practices—are cancelled today and this evening.

Forsyth County Schools will be on an early-release schedule for Tuesday, Jan. 28, due to expected inclement weather, including snow showers and freezing temps. 

Release times will follow the standard early-release schedule, which include: 

  • Elementary Schools I: 11:50 a.m.
  • Elementary Schools II: 12:30 p.m.
  • Middle Schools: 1:30 p.m.
  • High Schools: 12:55 p.m.

All after school activities and athletics are cancelled for the day.

Staff release times (unless changed by the principal) are:

  • Elementary Schools I: 1:05 p.m.
  • Elementary Schools II: 1:45 p.m.
  • Middle Schools: 2:45 p.m.
  • High Schools: 2:10 p.m.

Cumming and Forsyth County are under a winter weather advisory from 9 a.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
