Forsyth Schools Staff Win Technology Awards

Technology team members at Forsyth County Schools now have some awards under their belts.

The Assistive Technology Team received the 2013 Tools for Life Excellence in Assistive Technology Team Award for outstanding Assistive Technology (AT) Services. Team members include Chris Swaim, AT Facilitator, Michelle Goffe, Barbara Leonard, Patricia Fairley, Jennifer Ro, Amy Thomsen and Polly Benson. 

The award recognizes those that promote or facilitate "the development of effective AT integration in a classroom, school, school system, workplace and/or community."

Carolyn Phillips, Director for Tools for Life, said,“The Forsyth County Assistive Technology Team is a leader in Georgia and a pioneer nationally in their development and implementation of innovative and effective AT services that relate directly to student achievemen.!”

Additionally, Ann Kohler from South Forsyth High School received the 2013 Tools for Life Assistive Technology Innovator of the Year Award for outstanding design of an inclusive classroom.

Phillips said that Kohler earned the distinction because she “exemplifies excellence in inclusion of all students through her effective implementation of assistive technology, universal design for learning principles and the Bring Your Own Technology model in her classroom!”
