Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday today, March 2 by joining book lovers for Read Across America day.

Today is not only Read Across America Day and 'Exceptional Children Week/Book Fair' in Forsyth County, but Dr. Seuss' birthday.

In honor of the beloved children's author, is having a Dr. Seuss birthday celebration featuring several school performances.

The festivities include a cookie decorating session in the cafe as well as:

  • The Midway Elementary School Drum Circle at 6 p.m.
  • Seussical by Daves Creek Elementary School at 6:20 p.m.
  • Dr. Seuss Storytime at 6:40 p.m.
  • Riverwatch Middle School Seussical at 7 p.m.
  • Cumming Elementary School Chorus at 7:15 p.m.

Also this year, the National Education Association (NEA), a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.
