President of Lanier Technical College Retires

Russell Vandiver will step down from his position at the end of March 2013.

Russell Vandiver, president of Lanier Technical College, recently announced his retirement, according to a press release.

Vandiver who has spent 37 years at Lanier Tech, the last two years serving as the fourth president of the college, will step down from his position at the end of March 2013.

Vandiver told the College Board of Directors that the timing allows the Technical System of Georgia to search for a new president prior to the new fiscal year beginning in July 2013.

He also said, “Lanier Tech is a great school with great people and great customer service."

Among his proudest accomplishments, the Dawson campus and the Forsyth Conference Center, as well as the selection of the new Vice President of Economic Development and the Executive Director of the Foundation.

Prior to his position as president, Vandiver also served as the VP of Economic Development for many years helping to bring new businesses, new jobs, and new training opportunities into North Georgia.

One of the first things Vandiver plans to do in retirement is spend more quality time with his two grandchildren.
