Parents Invited To Forsyth Drug Awareness Summit

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher and Cy Young Award recipient John Smoltz, Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper and a panel of experts are set to attend.

The first Forsyth County Drug Awareness Summit is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College.

A collaborative effort of Forsyth County Government, Forsyth County Schools, the Forsyth County judiciary and sheriff's office, the summit will educate parents about the drugs being used by teens in the county. Parents will learn ways they can help safeguard against teen drug use, and be more keen in knowing how to spot problems and how to assist in recovery.

Among those slated to take part in the event are sports announcer, former Atlanta Braves pitcher and Cy Young Award recipient John Smoltz and Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper.

The event will also feature a panel of experts to answer questions.
