West Forsyth Principal Gill Retires After 30 Years of Service

Veteran educator, Betty Pope, serves as acting West Forsyth High School principal.

Richard Gill an educator for more than 30 years announced his retirement effective today, Sept. 1.

For more than a decade he served as a principal in Forsyth County and led West Forsyth High School as its principal the last four years.

"The leadership that Mr. Gill has provided in our district has been impressive, particularly as he has worked to establish WFHS as an outstanding school in Georgia," said Superintendent L.C. (Buster) Evans in a news release.

At the recommendation of Evans to the Forsyth County Board of Education, veteran educator Betty Pope will step in as acting principal at West Forsyth.

Pope who worked at several schools within the district, including North Forsyth High School, South Forsyth High School, and the past four years at West Forsyth High School, has been largely involved in the planning and implementation of a quality learning environment, according to Evans.

“We are confident that Ms. Pope, and the strong and experienced leadership team at WFHS, will continue to build the tradition of excellence with which this school has come to be recognized for," Evans said.
