5 Tips for safety after dark.

When I was thinking about writing my blog I was centering it on just the ladies.  Then I thought some more and decided that this could be useful for anyone.

Here are 5 tips for traveling from a crowded or populated place to your vehicle to keep you safe.  You may or may not know these and if you do pass them along.  If not then please use these helpful tips and be safe.

1)  First whenever you leave and step out alone place your keys between your second finger and ring finger on either hand.  if attacked you can scratch and poke at the face and hands.

2) Keep your guard at all times.  Know your surroundings and where you parked.  Allow for no distractions. If something seems wrong go back inside and call a family member or the authorities.

3) Whenever possible always go in pairs or groups.  Have someone walk with you to your vehicle and then drive them to theirs and wait for them to get started before you leave.

4) Never approach an ATM alone.  If you have no other choice and are robbed and told to give money, enter your four digit pin number backwards.  That will automatically summon the police to that location.

5) If your hands are full or you think they might be.  Please let the grocery baggers, or cart attendants assist you out to your vehicle.  You can always ask for someone to escort you out and management will assist.

REMEMBER THESE OTHER TIPS AS WELL:  Keep your cell phone handy in case you need to call for help.  You can buy pepper spray, mace, and a whistle if you need. Walk out and sing loudly walking to your car.  No one knows if you're talking to someone or not on your phone.  If nothing else if you feel like you're endanger or are attacked scream.  Keep screaming and don't stop.   The attacker does not want any attention brought on them.

I hope and pray you never need to use these tips but if you ever do I pray you remember them.
