The Wolverines endured their first loss of the season Friday night, dropping a tough one 27-14 to a 5-1 Raider team.

“We’re disappointed, but we will come back,” said West Forsyth coach Frank Hepler. “We’re fighters.”

Hepler said Alpharetta jumped out to quick a 14-0 lead, but West Forsyth knotted it up early in the second half.

“I give Alpharetta  a lot of credit,” he said. “They came up with some big plays when they needed them. They’re a well-coached football team with a lot of good athletes.”

Senior Blake Roberts and junior Jake Wieczorek both found the end zone on rushing touchdowns for West Forsyth, who faces Northview next week.

Lambert’s offense continued to click on all cylinders as they routed the Bulldogs 41-7 to remain undefeated at 5-0.

“We made some big plays and Coach [Louis] Daniel did a great job spreading the ball around and keeping the defense honest,” said coach Sid Maxwell.

Senior quarterback David Broadus threw two touchdowns, completing 11 of 23 passes for 165 yards. Daniel Myers also scored twice, rushing for 143 yards on 16 carries. Christopher Lee caught one of Broadus’s touchdowns while finishing the night with 50 yards on four receptions. Brock Maxwell caught the other touchdown and rushed for 132 yards on 11 carries.

Averaging almost 45 points the last two games, Maxwell admits his offense is clicking on all cylinders.

“It starts with our offensive line,” he said. “They are playing really well, but we are not where we need to be.”
