High School Football Predictions

Forsyth teams should win three of five games this week. But which ones?

Every week, I pick high-school football games that are played in Patch coverage areas from Stone Mountain to Cumming.

Check out this week's predictions, then let us know how you think your team will fare in the comment box below ... if you dare.

Last week's record: 20-5. Overall record: 77-20.

Centennial at : This Region 6-AAAAA game features two teams heading in different directions so far. The West Forsyth Wolverines have been impressive in a 4-0 start, but they have yet to face a top-tier team. Centennial is 1-3, but are just a handful of plays away from being 3-1. With region playoff berths up from grabs — behind West Forsyth and Alpharetta, the five other 6-AAAAA teams are a combined 3-17 — every league win will be extremely important. West Forsyth 26, Centennial 20.

Roswell at : The season isn’t over for either of these 0-4 teams. At least two of the five region teams with records of 1-3 or worse WILL make the playoffs in the end. Neither of these teams cab afford a loss if either is wanting to be one of them. Roswell 20, North Forsyth 10.

at Woodland: So, how should we look at this one? In a region (7-AAAA) where all 11 schools play 10 region games, every game can have playoff implications. Neither Forsyth Central (1-2) nor Woodland (2-2) are considered playoff contenders, but with the way teams have beaten up on each other so far, you never know. So far, against Rome and South Forsyth (teams that went 6-4 last year and made the playoffs) Woodland beat South Forsyth 55-23, but lost to Rome 13-7, while Forsyth Central lost to South Forsyth 24-6, but beat Rome 29-20. It’s enough to make one’s head hurt. Woodland won this game 36-35 last year. This year? Forsyth Central 24, Woodland 23.

at Cass: At 0-4, Cass hasn't come closer than two touchdowns against any opponent. South Forsyth will be No. 5. South Forsyth 36, Cass 14.

Holy Innocents’ at : Last week’s 14-0 win over Wesleyan makes Holy Innocents’ (3-1) the team to beat in Region 5-A North. Pinescrest (2-2) will have a tough time protecting its home field. Holy Innocents’ 28, Pinecrest 17.
