Are you ready for another round of picks?

at Johns Creek: Johns Creek faces its second big Region 7-AAAA opponent in as many weeks when the Gladiators (5-1) host first-place Lambert (5-0). Last week, the Gladiators were pushed into overtime in a 19-16 loss to Chattahoochee. Johns Creek led 10-6 before Chattahoochee hit on a 61-yard TD pass with two minutes left. The Glads then kicked a field goal to force OT. Lambert has been tough on defense and balanced on offense. The Longhorns had two rushers over 100 yards and passed for 165 and two TDs in last week’s win over Forsyth Central. A Lambert win puts the Longhorns in great position to win the region. A Johns Creek win creates a virtual three-way tie (with Chattahoochee) for the lead. Lambert 21, Johns Creek 20.

Northview at : Northview stepped up big time in a 39-13 win over North Forsyth last week. The Titans (2-4, 1-1 Region 6-AAAAA) stepped into playoff contention, a substantial development, considering they went 1-9 overall, 0-6 in the region last year. It’s clear Northview is much improved. West Forsyth (5-1, 1-1) may still be smarting after last week’s 27-14 loss to first-place Alpharetta, but still remains among the region’s elite. The Wolverines must regroup to turn back a Northview team that could keep this game close. West Forsyth 27, Northview 17.

at Creekview: South Forsyth (2-3), a playoff team in 2010, needs to put some Ws on the board if it wants to return to the postseason. The War Eagles haven’t beaten a team with more that one win. Creekview (1-5) has played well against good competition — one-score losses to Lambert and Rome — but has lost five in row. South Forsyth 17,  Creekview 14.

Cass at : The bottom two teams in Region 7-AAAA play to avoid staying in the cellar. Forsyth Central is 1-4, with the lone win coming against Rome, which is currently hanging on to the region’s fourth seed. Cass is winless at 0-6 and hasn’t been closer than 12 points in any of its losses. Forsyth Central 23, Cass 16.

Pace Academy at (Thursday): Pinecrest  (2-4) is looking to end a three-game losing streak with a win over Pace (2-3), which still has its eyes on reaching the playoffs. Pinecrest is 0-3 in Region 5-A North; Pace is 1-1. Pace Academy 24, Pinecrest 14.
