A 'Mutts' See Festival Saturday

The second annual Mutts and More Festival, hosted by the Humane Society of Forsyth County, takes place Saturday.

Make plans to attend the second annual Mutts and More Festival at its new location, , in south Forsyth County.

The event, hosted by the , kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m.

Lance White, president of the HSFC, said the festival was moved to Fowler Park to attract the people that would already be at the park to Mutts and More.

A lot is planned for this year's worthy fundraiser. The Mutt Strutt, a 2-mile walk with your pooch, begins at 10 a.m. and costs $25 to participate with all proceeds going towards the HSFC.

"The Mutt Strutt is like a cancer walk where people will support you and donate money under each individual walker with their dog for the Humane Society," said White. "Last year we raised about $9,000 doing that."

As of Thursday, White said about $4,000 had been raised. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise the most money.

The Rucker Mutts and More Dog Show will get underway at noon. , a premier sponsor of the event, will host the show. To get your dog entered you must register by 11 a.m. Saturday.

There will also be a fashion show, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, games for the children, and most importantly pet adoptions.

"I am a firm believer that we are all in this together to rescue animals," said White. "So we have invited, free of charge, 15 rescue groups besides ourselves that are going to be there. If there was ever a time that you wanted to go and look, and adopt a dog this Saturday would be it."

For you cat lovers there will be a handful of felines up for adoption from the HSFC and the Feral Cat Program of Georgia.

The weather forecast is expected to beautiful, mostly sunny with a high near 83.
