Forsyth Students Can Spend Summer with Firefighters

The Forsyth County Fire Department is hosting two week-long summer camps.

Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Forsyth County can learn what it takes to be a firefighter this summer as the Forsyth County Fire Department schedules two free week-long summer camp programs.  

Fire Camp: For students entering sixth grade in August 2013, will be held Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14.

Junior Fire Academy: For students entering seventh and eighth grade in August 2013, will be held Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28.

Both camp programs are offered free of charge, according to a news release by the county.  

Those attending Fire Camp and Junior Fire Academy will have the opportunity to experience the different aspects of being a career firefighter. From firefighting to search and rescue to CPR, the campers will have an unforgettable educational experience.

“The Fire Camp and Junior Fire Academy programs are an exceptional way for students to learn what it is like to be a firefighter, and about the many services the Forsyth County Fire Department provides to this county every day,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman. “We pride ourselves on engaging our community’s youth through our educational and outreach programs.”

Monday-Friday
Drop off: After 7:30 a.m.
Pick up: No later than 5 p.m. 

Those interested in attending Fire Camp or Junior Fire Academy must submit a completed application by May 1, 2013. Space for the camp programs is limited.
