New Year...New You!

As the year starts we all think about those changes we always plan and never happen, maybe because we fail to realize that a lifestyle change is a process and will not happen overnight. Here are a few tips to make the the process a bit easier, help you stay on track and get the best out of your workouts:

  1. Drink enough water- Yes we all know this is the #1 rule when it comes to weight loss and healthy living but we are not sure how much is enough. 8 glasses? 62 ounces?? The reality is we are all different and have different needs, therefore the easiest way to calculate your water intake is by using your own body weight. One should drink half of our body weight in ounces for example if your weight is  150 pounds you may want to drink 75 ounces of water daily, always making sure you don't drink too much at once.
  2. Mix your workouts- Most of the time we choose a workout routine which we enjoy doing but getting out of your comfort zone and trying different forms of exercises will help you get results faster and avoid getting bored and quitting before reaching your goals.
  3. Avoid processed food- This is usually the hardest part of the process, staying away from all the "good stuff". To make it simple try staying away from any bagged snacks, frozen foods etc. and try adding more fruit and vegetables to your daily meals.
  4. Be Patient- A lifestyle change is a slow process, since we now are training our bodies to do things differently to what we had done before so don't get discourage and make sure you get back on if you fall of the wagon.
  5. The right rewards- Don't use food as reward for your progress, instead choose other things like a day at the spa or getting new clothes as a reward.
