Cumming Resident Recognized for Community Service

Cumming resident and Northside Hospital-Forsyth volunteer, Peggy Nagy, receives regional community service award.

Peggy Nagy, a member service team member at for four years, was recently recognized for her volunteerism and dedication to the patients and staff of .

In a news release, Nagy has served in the Auxiliary at the hospital for the past five years and wears many hats. She worked in the hospital’s outpatient surgery services, communicating with families during and after surgery, answering phones and assisting with other assignments as needed; and as a member of the Auxiliary’s knitting group, knitting and crocheting blankets and caps for newborn babies in the Women’s Center and for the hospital’s cancer patients.

"Northside Hospital-Forsyth is very lucky to have Peggy as one of our volunteers," said Gloria Wyatt, coordinator of Northside Hospital-Forsyth’s Auxiliary services.  "Her dedication and ‘giving heart’ is obvious in everything she does."

A Cumming resident, Nagy also organizes social events once a month for her friends and neighbors in her senior living community. Her colleagues at the wholesale club were so impressed that they quietly nominated her for the "BJ’s Get Involved" campaign, which recognizes team members for their outstanding spirit of giving back and volunteering in their local communities.

This year, more than 200 nominations were collected from the store's locations across the East Coast. One winner was selected from each of 10 categories and Nagy received the "Top Caregiver" Award, which is given to "those who work to make others’ lives more comfortable." Of all 10 winners, Nagy is the only one from Georgia.

At a team member meeting last month, Nagy was presented with a framed award, which will hang in the Cumming store throughout the next year.

"Thank you, Peggy, for your time and effort that you have dedicated to improving the lives of others," said Kevin Ramminger, general manager of BJ’s in Cumming, as he presented the award to Peggy on Oct. 1. "You are a prime example of the spirit of volunteerism that BJ’s hopes to foster."
