Keep Forsyth County Beautiful's 2013 Rivers Alive Cleanup Set for Nov. 2

Organizers need volunteers for the waterway cleanup event in Cumming.

Help make a positive impact on local waterways by joining Keep Forsyth County Beautiful for the 2013 Rivers Alive Cleanup set for Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. 

Sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division's Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Program and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs' Keep Georgia Beautiful Program, in cooperation with Help the Hooch, it's part of the statewide volunteer effort targeting Georgia's 70,150 miles of streams and rivers. 

Local organizers encourage families, co-workers, scout troops and organizations to volunteer for the annual waterway cleanup event.

Volunteer teams can register for the event by calling KFCB at 770-205-4573 or by sending an email to kfcb@forsythco.com. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 30.  

Volunteers will meet at Mary Alice Park, 1820 Mary Alice Park Road in Cumming, at 9 a.m. on November 2 to gather supplies. They'll then clean as many lake, river and wetland locations as possible before returning to Mary Alice Park for lunch.
