Local Charity Aims for $500,000 Prize

“No Longer Bound” asks for your votes

A Forsyth County charity has already won one award, and is now setting its sights even higher.

No Longer Bound is a faith-based ministry that offers care and support for people battling addictions. They have an inpatient recovery center, give support to addicts and their families, and distribute clothing, food and even cars to the needy in our community.

They applied for, and won, a $25,000 prize from Chase Bank’s Facebook initiative called Chase Community Giving. Now, the company is offering a chance at $500,000 for one of the Top 100 “Big Ideas” submitted, and a total of $2.5 million in smaller grants.

No Longer Bound’s entry states that “Our residential recovery program always has a waiting list of dozens of needy individuals, but our current residence cannot accommodate them. With your help, we will build a new dorm to increase our capacity by 70 percent, enabling us to save hundreds more lives each year!”

The charity also wants to build a bigger kitchen and storehouse to feed more of the community’s hungry, and to expand outreach to the incarcerated.

You can vote online on Facebook here through Wednesday, May 25.

@Mack Kidd - Here is the latest link of the Cumming Job Alert - you can always find it underRead More "Business" http://cumming.patch.com/groups/business-news/p/new-jobs-in-cumming-week-of-june-10 - I hope this helps.

I was going to ask the same thing about the jobs. I really liked the job search engine that wasRead More included before the format change. The link you provided is okay, but I liked being able to see what's available in other places and being able to narrow the search as well. You said "you can always find it under "Business"". Where? I don't see it. To be honest, I don't really care for the new website layout. I had only recently found Cumming Patch and was really enjoying it. I'm not sure I'll continue visiting. The new layout is not easy to navigate. The dropdowns that used to be in the menu were really nice so that you could go directly to what you were looking for.

By the way, I don't mean to sound mean with my comments. Hopefully it will be taken as constructiveRead More criticism. Have a great day!
