RE/MAX of Georgia Announces Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

The campaign kicks off with a golf tournament, Sept. 13.

RE/MAX of Georgia recently announced a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Georgia, including the North Central Georgia branch, with a goal to raise more than $80,000 to help serve families across the state.

Funds raised through the efforts of RE/MAX-affiliated companies and sales associates will create and preserve home ownership – that means not only going toward building new homes, but also to help keep families in their current homes by making necessary repairs, adding accessibility for handicapped persons and more where necessary.

“Habitat for Humanity of Georgia is an ideal partner for RE/MAX’s community involvement efforts,” said Dane Ellison, Chief Executive Officer for RE/MAX of Georgia. “Habitat shares the same vision our agents do of helping people realize the American dream of home ownership”.

The campaign will kick off with a company-sponsored golf tournament on Sept. 13 at Eagles Landing Country Club. RE/MAX of Georgia is encouraging individual agent involvement by linking local offices with Habitat chapters and specific community efforts across the state. This new partnership will offer another opportunity for RE/MAX Realtors to contribute to the overall well being of the communities in which they serve.

“Many of the families served are not only first time home buyers, but are actually first generation homeowners,” said Harold Tessendorf, President of Habitat for Humanity of Georgia. “Through working with RE/MAX of Georgia, we’re not only opening doors for these families, we’re opening new doors to new partnerships in our home state.”

According to the 2011 National Association of Realtors Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, a full 60 percent of recent first-time homebuyers cited the desire to own a home of their own as the primary reason for purchasing a house. While today’s economic environment has postponed home ownership for some, recent data indicate that home ownership is once again on the rise, all over the country and right here in Georgia. The most recent S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Indices show average home prices up nearly four percent in Atlanta, which is largely credited to an increase of qualified buyers.

Nationwide, RE/MAX is committed to giving back to the communities in which it serves. In 1992 the organization became the first official real estate sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network. To date, the group has contributed more than $56 million to the cause that raises funds and awareness for 174 children’s hospitals in North America that treat more than 17 million children who are afflicted with diseases, injuries and birth defects.
