Crews To Mow Highways in Cumming, Nearby Counties

Work in Forsyth County is set to take place on state routes 20 and 141.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is set to perform routine maintenance activities this week in Forsyth and nearby counties, if weather permits.

Most activities will only require shoulder or median lane closures. Following is a tentative schedule; if emergency response is needed at a crash scene or if emergency repairs are necessary, it schedule will change. 

Crews plan to work Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., if weather permits.

Lane closures are required for patching asphalt. A flagman or pilot vehicle will direct traffic through the work zone.     

Forsyth: Crews will mow State Route 20 east of Cumming and SR 141

Dawson: Crews will mow rights of way on SR 53 

Gwinnett – A crew will mow SR 10/US 78, SR 8 and SR 20 while another crew repairs damaged guardrail on Interstate 85. 

Herbicide will be sprayed on rights of way alongside SR 316 and SR10/US 78 and a crew will re-stripe faded striping on SR 141, a lane closure will occur as the striping goes down.

Hall: A crew will remove damaged asphalt and lay new asphalt or patch the roadway on SR 284 from milepost 1 to 3; a lane closure is required for this work as it occurs. 

Another crew will repair damaged guardrail on I-985 while crews will mow on SR 60, SR 323, SR 82 and SR 11/US 129.

Motorists should reduce their speed in these and all work zones.
