A judge sentenced Christopher Erdman to life in prison, allowing him to dodge a death sentence as prosecutors wanted to spare his 5-year-old daughter from testifying in her mother's murder.

I remember this story. Please pray for that baby girl. Heartbreaking.

Great. Let's all pay for this lump of s**t's room and board for the rest of our lives. ProsecutorsRead More should have had the guts to put this creep down like the dog he is. --Strike that. Calling him a dog is an insult to dogs.
KELLI April 15, 2014 at 11:34 am
Life in prison is a form of torture, it must be worse than the death penalty (if not dragged outRead More over 20 years); and it's an enormouse financial burden on the tax payers.
Terri Benton April 15, 2014 at 10:11 am
Just found this and the police really are in violation of the law and I am really angry. "InRead More Virginia, headlight flashing to warn of police activity is not illegal, even though other evasion techniques like radar detectors are outlawed.""
Pam Hamburg April 15, 2014 at 12:22 pm
Dennis, please reread what I wrote: 'After all, if you are taken into custody and accused of aRead More crime, then interrogated, LEO's can LIE to you, but don't you dare lie to them!' Works both ways. Sorry you gave up riding due to stupid motorists. In a way, I don't blame you, but I refuse. I love it. It's better than therapy and cheaper too. I love the good we riders do. ABATE works very hard on this issue, so does the MRF. That's why there are signs and window stickers everywhere: Watch Out For Bikers! I have found the biggest infraction by a motorist is failure to yield right of way, resulting in serious injury and even death, to the rider and passenger, if there is one. These motorists are cited ONLY for failure to yield right of way. A misdemeanor. A fine. Big deal. The charge SHOULD be negligent driving, vehicular manslaughter. The motorist was RESPONSIBLE. I bet that woman who missed her exit and caused the death of a rider wasn't charged for vehicular manslaughter, if anything at all. All I can say is that she will have to live with that for the rest of her miserable life. What she did endangered ALL motorists. The rider paid for her error with his life. No doubt it devastated his family and friends. Like throwing a pebble into a pond. As far as harassment goes, you have not ridden lately. Although I haven't been a victim (yet), I know others who have. I can cite stories. Some years ago, a rider and others set up a benefit event for our veterans, got all the right permits, etc., at Big Pipe Creek Park outside of Taneytown. I went the first night (Fri.). Every single rider was being stopped by the cops before being allowed to be on their way. There were pepper cannons. Someone could have murdered 10 people in Carroll County and not a cop would have responded. I only stayed long enough to hear some bands. All the way home from Taneytown to Westminster, some 10+ miles, I was followed by a sheriff. At Englar Road, where I had to turn off, the sheriff made a U turn and headed back to Taneytown. No harassment there, no sir. I returned on Sunday to find the event wrapping up and hardly anyone was there. Saturday was dismal too. The promoter ended up $500 in the hole and NO money for our veterans! I kid you not, not only were local LEO's there, but also troopers, FBI, ATF, and more. This happens at swap meets also, esp. the ones held at Howard County Fairgrounds. There is a police command center in a huge r.v. type vehicle. Undercover everywhere. We are videotaped and listened to. Pictures are taken of license plates, no matter what kind of vehicle. All of this is because of a minority 1% of riders that engage in criminal activity. I've seen 1%ers at swap meets and there has never been any problem. They are there for the same reasons we are. Treat them with respect as you would everyone else and you get respect back. I'd love to have a conversation with you, Dennis :) But I've hijacked this convo long enough :(
Dennis Gilpin April 15, 2014 at 04:33 pm
Pam, Thank you for supporting our veterans, as I am one myself. My favorite place to rideRead More was in Hartford county. Tried riding around Washington D.C. but 495 was just plain crazy. I did skydiving for years and found it was safer than riding a bike on Marylands highways LOL

You're absolutely right: Scandanavia has much stronger gun restrictions than we do, and they haveRead More much less violent crime. Couldn't agree with you more.

I did look up the word for Grace and it is about God's grace. I cannot give it to anyone because itRead More is not mine to give. God gives me Grace everyday. I am a sinner but I am forgiven through God everyday. Now with that said, I don't care that this is how she supports her family. She made the decision to commit a felony and yes she made that decision. Should I forgive her as a person as A human being? No, besides she didn't do nothing to me. She doesn't need, require or any other form of forgiveness from me. I have not right to judge her and I am not. In fact I hope she comes through this strong and with the ability to learn from her mistake. However, she should find another job. One where it is okay for a felon to work and not where children are involved.
MacKenzie Shadburn-Martin April 15, 2014 at 03:07 pm
See that's where you wrong. We can all show others the same grace that our awesome God shows usRead More everyday. After all, where would we all be with out Gods grace??? The Lord made us in his image and with in each of us is the ability to show each other the same love, compassion, forgiveness and grace that he has bestowed upon us.
Rebecca Kennedy April 15, 2014 at 03:31 pm
Again I don't need to give her forgiveness. That would be her family, friends and closeRead More acquaintances. I can't give God's grace. It is not mine to give. That is why it's called God's Grace. Who are you to say I am wrong or right. No one. You believe what you believe and I will believe what I believe. But bottom line Mrs. Westray committed nothing against me personaly and I don't believe she is a bad person per say. All I am saying is she broke a major law. People want to try and blame others for their decisions etc. doctors, friends and anyone else that they can so they don't have to accept that they are the ones to blame. She deserves the love and support of her family and friends but she doesn't deserve to keep her job or position.

What I do not understand is ……this guy is in the court room and just got sentenced,Read More and was therefore (or should have been) in the custody of court officers/police ……How the heck did he get away in the first place and why did they not catch him before he got into his truck. Someone needs to take a look at that.

Perhaps Mom should have had it the car seat strapped in correctly.

@powdertowner - My thoughts exactly. This could've had a very different outcome without that carRead More seat being strapped in properly. Very lucky little girl indeed.

The attacker is a bully and his parents were fully aware of it. As a parent of a non physicallyRead More violent bully, you know when your child is a bully because he bullies his siblings. I used to get complaints from parents of frightened children about my son all the time. My son was finally cured of his bullying ways when another bully punched him with brass knuckles on. Well wishes to the Egan family. This little boy did not deserve this. Nobody does.
Omar Monroe March 31, 2014 at 07:57 am
If thats the case then Melissa Hickson, he deserved what he got, my neighbors daughter was bulliedRead More for a long time, the bullies would be so bad that they even followed her home, waiting down the street to catch her outside, she told her parents but they didn't do anything, when she finally had enough and fought back, she was expelled, and had to go to alternative school.
stephen m george jr mpa March 31, 2014 at 02:36 pm
Something important to think about regarding this situation is ...almost every kid perpetrating aRead More school mass shooting WAS a victim of bullying ...and they had enough. So, let's just brush this crime under the rug and pretend it didn't happen ...and see what happens next.

I had the exact same accident at the exact same spot several years ago. A car full of teens,Read More driving a Honda Accord turned left onto Shadburn, from behind a pickup truck. They could not see me. I could not see them. I was able to brake & veer enough to hit the rear quarter panel & not injure the kids in the car, thankfully. My van was totaled. I was in treatment for 3 mths for injuries to my back due to the impact. This intersection needs the attention of the county.
A March 24, 2014 at 11:12 am
I live on Shadburn Road and have to deal with this intersection daily. It is a death trap. CarsRead More coming onto Shadburn from 400 cut you off, and your are taking your life into your own hands if you are on Shadburn and want to take a left onto Martin. There is a huge blind spot and cars cutting thru from 400 are flying thru here. Too much traffic uses these roads that we live on as a quick cut thru. County or State please help our residents to stay safe, do something about this intersection!
