A single-vehicle crash over the weekend in north Forsyth County leaves a woman dead.
A 44-year-old woman died early Saturday morning after her vehicle crashed in a wooded area in North Forsyth county, authorities said. Kathryn J. Dodd, 44, of nearby Alpharetta, was dead at the scene after being ejected from her car, according to Cpl. David Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Dodd, who was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima, was traveling west on Chattahoochee Road from Shady Grove Road when the vehicle left the roadway on the north side and struck a tree, Garrison said. A passer-by saw Dodd's car leave the roadway around 2 a.m. and go down an embankment off Chattahoochee Road. Forsyth County investigators arrest a suspect wanted for allegedly stealing a family member's car and guns who also is wanted in nearby Alpharetta for armed robbery and carjacking.
A 31-year-old man, a resident of Atlanta, has been arrested and charged in connection with a carjacking and a separate armed robbery in nearby Alpharetta last week, and on car theft and gun theft charges in Forsyth County. The armed robbery took place at BeJewel, a Windward Parkway business, on Aug. 17 at 12:49 p.m., according to George Gordon, spokesperson for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. The carjacking took place in the parking lot of a local mall on Aug. 17 at 8:40 p.m. Since then, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigative Division has been conducting investigations. A suspect is expected to turn herself in on Wednesday to face charges in the fatal traffic accident on April 11.
Arrest warrants have been obtained by a woman in connection with a fatal traffic accident on April 11 in nearby Alpharetta. George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, said charges have been made against the driver of the vehicle that investigators say initiated the traffic crash. A 67-year-old Cumming man has been identified as the victim in a fatal accident in Alpharetta on the morning of April 11. Edward Kivlin was dead at the scene, according to Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon. The initial investigation by the traffic enforcement unit indicates a red Honda Civic left its northbound lane on the entrance ramp to Georgia 400 from Haynes Bridge Road.
