Cumming Man Arrested After Hiding Laptop in Comforter

A Cumming man was arrested for shoplifting a laptop from Walmart.

A Cumming man was arrested after a loss prevention officer at Walmart on Windward Parkway said she saw the suspect hide a $598 laptop and head out of the store without paying for it, according to the Milton Police Department. The Walmart employee said the suspect took the laptop and walked to the home goods department, where she said he hid it in a comforter set. Taking the comforter set to a self-checkout lane, she said the suspect paid for all items except for the laptop. Michael Wayne Birchfield, 34, of Cumming, was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with felony shoplifting. He was released from Fulton County Jail on Feb. 8 on $5,000 bond. Cumming Man 'Returns' Goods Just Taken Off Shelves

A Cumming man was arrested on a charge of theft by deception.

Milton Police arrested a 27-year-old Cumming man after he allegedly used store receipts to "return" goods he had just taken off shelves of the Walmart moments before. A loss prevention officer at the Walmart on Windward Parkway said the suspect was observed walking into the store on Jan. 13 without any items in his hands. He then was seen on video taking a men`s jacket, a shower curtain, and a package of paper towels off shelves. The suspect immediately took his shopping cart straight to customer service, and handed over receipts to be given cash – $39.80 – for returns. The store's loss prevention officer confronted the man in the store and asked him to talk about the returns, but the man left the store. The store employee got his license …

UPDATE: State Seeks Indictment Against Former Middle School Parapro

The former paraprofessional has been charged with sexual battery against a minor.

UPDATE: 1-3-13, 6:55 p.m. A case against a former paraprofessional at a Forsyth County middle school will need to be presented to the Grand Jury for an indictment before the defendant can be formally arraigned. The Jan. 2 court date listed on bond paperwork is just a date when Marvin Shane Pilcher, 26, had to report to the DA's office to provide current contact information. Man Arrested in Forsyth Subdivision Burglaries

A 21-year-old man suspected of burglarizing several homes in south Forsyth County turned himself in Thursday night to authorities.

A 21-year-old Forsyth County man, suspected of burglarizing several homes in the Bethelview Road area, has been arrested, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Austin Thomas Schwartzenberger, formerly of Lancaster Circle in Cumming, turned himself in to patrol officers Thursday night after investigators had issued a lookout for him. Schwartzenberger has been charged with four counts of burglary and is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond. Sgt. Woman Reports Wallet Stolen, Claims Forsyth Sheriff 'Out to Kill' Her Children

Cumming woman said wallet, which she valued at $3 million, was stolen while she was at Dos Copas in Dacula.

A Cumming woman was charged with disorderly conduct after refusing to leave Dos Copas in Dacula on Oct. 24. Lisa F. Wright, 44, of West Forsyth County, initially contacted Gwinnett County Police to report a theft. Wright said her wallet, which she claimed was worth $3 million, had been stolen out of her purse while she was in the bar. Wright claimed she had been watching her purse all night and had no suspect information. According to the police report, the owner of Dos Copas said Wright did not notice her wallet was missing until presented with a $93 bar tab. Surveillance footage from 4 p.m., the time Wright arrived at Dos Copas, until 8:45 p.m., the time the officer arrived on scene, did not show anyone tampering with Wright’s purse. …

Forsyth County Man Arrested for Operating "Chop Shop"

At least four stolen vehicles were found at the suspect's home.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man Aug. 30 for operating a chop shop after discovering several reported stolen vehicles at his home following a tip from a concerned citizen, according to a news release Thursday. Lt. Col. Gene Moss said the citizen provided a tip to authorities that cars were being “chopped up and cut up with torches and saws” at the suspect's home.
