Atlanta Falcons to LA? Well ...

Atlanta's mayor and council discuss the matter, as well as with Falcons owner Arthur Blank.

The latest NFL team to be mentioned in buzz about possibly moving to Los Angeles is the Atlanta Falcons, who just happen to be involved in stadium discussions in Atlanta. Fox5 Atlanta has reported that Falcons owner Arthur Blank has "shared information" with Atlanta officials that business interests in Los Angeles are interested in moving the team to the West Coast. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has been calling in City Council members individually to tell them that that the city needs to take a more aggressive lead in the public financing portion of the proposed stadium, according to the report. The Los Angeles area has been without an NFL team since after the 1994 season, when the Raiders moved back to Oakland and the Rams, who played in …

Sunday's 30-28 win against the Seattle Seahawks puts the Atlanta Falcons one win away from a shot at the Super Bowl for only the second time in franchise history. Boston.com has a blow-by-blow recap of the game that had Atlanta Falcons tight-end Tony Gonzalez in tears Next stop, a shot at the NFC Championship game in Atlanta against San Francisco on Jan. 20. NFL Replacement Refs Mar Monday Night Game

Again, controversy surrounds the NFL's use of replacement referees. Share your thoughts.

For the second straight week, NFL replacement referees have figured in highly publicized disputed plays. And on Monday night (Sept. 24), the substitute officials directly figured in a game-deciding play. According to many media reports, the Seattle Seahawks were awarded a last-second touchdown on a bizarre Hail Mary play on which Green Bay safety M.D. Jennings appeared to come down with an interception that was later deemed to be a Golden Tate game-winning reception. The score eventually gave Seattle a 14-12 victory. "That was two of the worst calls at the end of a football game that I can remember," commentator Jon Gruden said on ESPN, which televised the game nationally. "I love this league and love the game of football, but tonight’s …

Clean Room on the Line for Falcons-Packers

A house divided by NFL fans of Green Bay and Atlanta will at least get a clean bedroom from the outcome.

The NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons has created at least one divided house in metro Atlanta. I have lived in Atlanta for more than half of my life (we won’t go into how many years that is). I am an Atlanta Falcons fan, with one exception: When the Dirty Birds play the Green Bay Packers — like they do tonight — I see only green-and-gold. Yep, I’m a Cheesehead. That’s not a big deal, with one exception: My 14-year-old son is partial to the red-and-black of the Falcons. He’s a big fan, with more Falcons gear than most of his friends.
