Halfway through 2012, we have our first real contender for the movie of the year, with the third and final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It's simply an amazing movie.
Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne again. His fortune is dwindling; his body is battered and his alter ego continues to elude police in "The Dark Knight Rises." This is a tough movie to review because I don't want to spoil anything. So I will try keep my review spoil-free. Basically, Batman is forced out of retirement after a new bad guy emerges from the sewer, a thug by the name of Bane (played by Tom Hardy). When he shows up, Gotham is overrun by anarchy. The supporting actors are fantastic in this film. Commissioner Gordon is again played by Gary Oldman; Marion Cotillard plays a philanthropist; Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a cop; and Anne Hathaway digs her claws into the role of Catwoman. Movie premieres Thursday night at midnight; some theaters hosting Batman marathons.
Holy Blockbuster, Batman! When the "Dark Knight Rises" premieres Thursday night at midnight, it's basically a guarantee that it will break ticket sale records. The third and reported final installment of director Christopher Nolan's Batman series starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader is expected to rake in more than $150 million in its opening weekend alone. In other words, if you are set on seeing the movie this weekend, you might want to go ahead and buy your tickets now. In fact, as of July 1, 100,000 tickets were already presold. Can't wait 'til midnight Thursday? Some theater chains, including AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 and Regal Cinemas in nearby Johns Creek, are capitalizing on the hype with early evening Batman marathons that …

And the number one slot for my favorite film of 2012 goes to The Dark Knight Rises with a solid 1000/10. It leaves you wanting more with subtle hints of to be continued (despite this being billed as a triology). I didn't think that they could top the Joker but with Bane they did it.   more ›
