Sunny skies provided an ideal backdrop for Tuesday's 5th annual Daniel Hager Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club, hosted by former Atlanta Braves Manager Bobby Cox. Taking place in nearby Johns Creek for the first time, the tournament is a tribute to Daniel Hager, a Georgia Tech grad who died in a car accident in 2005. "It all started on a trip to Mexico with Gerry and Kaye Litzinger (Hager's stepfather and mother)," Cox explained to Patch regarding his participation as chair of the tournament. "When he was killed in the accident we were in a cab together in Mexico. Kaye told me that she would like to do something in memory of her son. Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez got a look at the future. Baseball fans got a chance to watch their major league favorites play in their own backyard. A record setting crowd of 10,568 came to Coolray Field in Lawrenceville Tuesday night to watch The Atlanta Braves take on the Future All-Stars-- a team made up of the best talent from the major league team's farm clubs. And the future looks bright for many of the up and coming players. "They've got some good young position players there and some of those arms that came out of the bullpen, it was pretty impressive to see," said Gonzalez.
