More Lane Closures Today on GA 400 in Forsyth County

Northbound lanes on GA 400 under Buford Dam Road Overpass in Cumming will be affected beginning at 9 a.m. through 3:30 p.m.

The City of Cumming continues its construction project on the Buford Dam Road overpass which will impact traffic flow northbound on GA 400 and on Buford Dam Road. Weather permitting, today the work shifts to the northbound side of GA 400, closing the left or outside lane beginning at 9 a.m. As the work continues overhead the left lane will reopen and the right lane will be closed until 3:30 p.m. Motorists can access real-time, statewide, route-specific information on accidents, road work, traffic and weather conditions through Georgia 511, it is a free phone, web, and mobile service.

Lane Closures This Week on GA 400 in Forsyth County

Southbound lanes on GA 400 under Buford Dam Road Overpass in Cumming affected through 3:30 p.m.

The City of Cumming continues its construction project on the Buford Dam Road overpass which is impacting traffic flow southbound on GA 400 and on Buford Dam Road. While crews work overhead, the right southbound lane on GA 400 will be closed to traffic. As the work progresses throughout the day, the right lane will reopen and the left lane will close until 3:30 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Motorists can expect brief delays. Traffic flow will again be affected on Wednesday, weather permitting. Traffic Flowing on Buford Dam Road Again

The section from Sanders Road to Marketplace Boulevard opened back up to traffic Monday morning.

Buford Dam Road from Sanders Road to Marketplace Boulevard reopened Monday morning, though a few days past the original date of Saturday, June 4. One reason... "The extreme heat with the striping," said Cumming City Administrator Gerald Blackburn. "On Monday we had more people on the site to assist people if there were any problems with the new directions. It went real smooth this morning (Monday, June 6) we have not had any problems with it." In March crews began replacing a culvert where Buford Dam Road crosses Market Place Boulevard. The Buford Dam Road Project, as it is called by the City of Cumming, also includes widening parts of the roadway, up to four lanes, and installing sidewalks.
