Middle School Student Charged with Terroristic Threats
Classmates tell their parents they overheard the student making comments about “shooting up the school."
A 14-year-old Chestatee Middle School student, in nearby Gainesville, was taken into custody Wednesday for making threats of a shooting, according to authorities. Investigators and school officials were made aware of the situation after classmates overheard the student on Monday, Feb. 4, making comments about “shooting up the school," a press release stated. Those students notified their parents later that evening, and the parents brought it to the attention of officials. Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff's Office said no specific threat information, such as plans, dates and times, or people targeted were involved.
