UPDATE: Woman's Death Still Unknown Following House Fire

Autopsy and toxicology results of a woman whose body was found following a house fire in north Forsyth County are still pending.

UPDATE: 4-5-13, 10:32 p.m. Cumming Patch has learned that the autopsy and toxicology results for Elise Jeanette Chrisley, the woman whose body was found following a house fire early Sunday morning, are still pending. "We have been advised to expect three weeks to a month before we get any reply," said Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department.  "Also, the cause and original investigation is still underway and our investigators are not yet prepared to offer any comment." Fire, Smoke Damage Cumming Restaurant

Mr. Swiss Restaurant on Atlanta Road is closed due to fire and smoke damage.

Mr. Swiss, a popular restaurant located on Atlanta Road in Cumming, was damaged early Tuesday morning due to a fire. Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said firefighters responded to a call around 2:15 a.m. When they arrived on the scene they encountered smoke seeping from the eaves of the building and a fire burning in the restaurant's kitchen. "The fire was brought under control very quickly in the first moments after arrival," said Shivers. "But of course the building sustained significant smoke damage, some moderate water damage and some fire damage." Shivers said an employee who was beginning his workday discovered the fire and as he was turning on equipment in the restaurant he discovered the fire. …

Fire Guts Automotive Business in Downtown Cumming

A Wednesday afternoon fire "heavily damaged" Benton Motorsports located on Dahlonega Street in downtown Cumming.

Forsyth County firefighters were called to a fire Wednesday afternoon at Benton Motorsports located at 328 Dahlonega Street in downtown Cumming. Capt. Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said units were called to the scene around 1:48 p.m. When they arrived the automotive business was fully engulfed in fire. "The building is going to be heavily damaged," said Shivers. "Fortunately there are no injuries and the fire is under investigation." Dahlonega Street was shut down in both directions during the incident. Local Gas Station Damaged by Fire

An early morning fire Monday does significant damage to the Shell gas station on Dahlonega Street in Cumming.

Firefighters were called to an early morning fire Monday at the Shell gas station located at the intersection of Dahlonega Street and Sawnee Drive, across from the public library, in Cumming. Capt. Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said fire and smoke damaged about 20 percent of the building enough to close the business, for now, temporarily. It is not known how the fire was started and there is no damage estimate at this time. Shivers did say the fire is believed to be accidental and that an investigation is underway.

Late Night Fire Heavily Damages Pilgrim Lake Townhouse Unit

Two people escape blaze uninjured, but two family dogs are missing.

Forsyth County firefighters responded to a structure fire at a townhouse located in Pilgrim Lake Subdivision off Pilgrim Mill Road in Cumming late Thursday night. The fire was reported between 11 p.m. and midnight on Pilgrim Lake Drive. A resident of the community told Cumming Patch, she heard the sirens from the fire trucks in the neighborhood around 11:35 p.m. Capt. Jason Shivers with the Forsyth County Fire Department said the fire was contained to the one unit. At this time it doesn't appear that the next-door unit sustained any damage, though Shivers said the unit may have some smoke and water damage.
