A man was arrested this week in connection with multiple crimes involving fraud and identity theft, authorities said. David Lamar Beck, 51, of Sardis Road in nearby Gainesville, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation stemming from a January purchase of a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a local business. Beck is suspected of purchasing the vehicle with a counterfeit check. As investigators went deeper into the case they gathered enough information to secure a search warrant of Beck's residence. Upon the search on Jan. 16, investigators discovered copies of fraudulent Georgia and North Carolina driver’s licenses, numerous stolen checks and mail items, as well as a laptop computer connected to a burglary in White County, Ga. …

A 28-year-old man who was shot multiple times early Sunday morning in south Forsyth County is expected to recover, according to authorities. The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the Twin Lakes RV Park located at 3300 Shore Drive, off Highway 9 in Cumming. When deputies arrived on the scene they heard a woman screaming and found a man lying on the ground between two mobile homes with multiple gunshot wounds. That man, Aubrey Zander, was taken to North Fulton Hospital in critical condition but is now doing better. "He is in stable condition after surgery, he's expected to recover," said Rick Doyle, director of operations, with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Dawsonville man allegedly broke into cars and stole iPhones, children's clothing and several credit cards.
Authorities this week arrested and charged a 34-year-old man suspected of breaking into cars in south Forsyth County and stealing credit cards among other items. Charles Butterworth of Holcomb Road, in Dawsonville, has been charged with two counts of entering auto, three counts of financial card fraud, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects. On Friday, July 27, a vehicle parked at "Your Serve Tennis," located at 2627 Peachtree Parkway was broken into, according to Investigator Mike Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
