Two accidents in Forsyth on Monday claimed the life of one man while another wreck injured two people.
Two accidents in Forsyth County on Monday took the life of one man and seriously injured two others. Cumming resident Jeffrey Noda, 53, died from injuries he sustained in an accident at the intersection of Chattahoochee Road and Shady Grove Road around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Noda was driving in his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on Chattahoochee Road and made a left turn onto Shady Grove into the path of a Forth L9000 dump truck driven by Cumming resident Joel Edmondson. Noda died of injuries at Grady Health System in Atlanta after he was transported from the scene via helicopter. Both were wearing their seatbelts and Edmondson was treated for minor injuries. A Taser was used on Rodney Pike who was wanted by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. An officer was injured, but will be OK.
Authorities have identified the person who was shot dead Monday (May 13) in nearby Buford in an officer-involved shooting as Rodney Oneil Pike, 38, of Buford. Pike was wanted by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for two Superior Court Bench warrants for theft by taking-motor vehicle and burglary (both felonies), and a warrant for probation violation (misdemeanor), according to Major Richard Doyle, director of operations. A man suspected of hitting a woman Sunday night and driving away has been arrested. Winton “Red” Kuglar, 86, of Shady Grove Road in Cumming, was charged with hit and run resulting in serious injury, serious injury by motor vehicle, and reckless driving, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. The alleged hit and run happened about 9:30 p.m. at Mountain Valley Circle off Canton Highway after the victim, Krystal Cain, 31, told authorities that while she was walking home from a store a vehicle hit her. Cain said she heard a car coming and moved off the roadway onto the grass, but was still hit. Forsyth County Senior Services recently held a prom for residents at Sexton Hall, which serves active adults age 50 and over.
Forsyth County's active adults recently proved prom is not just a rite of passage for high school teenagers. With the help of a local Girl Scout, Forsyth County Senior Services held a prom for its clients at Sexton Hall. The event was also attended by deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and firefighters from the Forsyth County Fire Department. The prom was organized by a girl scout, who coordinated the event with the county agency as part of her effort to obtain her Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can obtain.

While Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper relieved the Mounted Patrol Unit of its duties earlier this year, the four horses recently found a new home in Chatham County.
The four horses that made up the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office's Mounted Patrol Unit have joined a new unit in south Georgia. The four horses are now become part of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, according to Savannah news station WSAV. The horses joined the department last month, bringing Chatham County's Mounted Patrol Unit to nine horses. Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper donated the four horses and sold an accompanying trailer to the Savannah-Chatham County Metropolitan Police Department, the news channel states. Forsyth County sheriff's deputies checked 13 businesses on Thursday for compliance and three were cited.
Three more businesses have been cited for selling alcohol to underage people in Forsyth County. Sheriff's deputies from the Forsyth County Ordinance and Permits Unit on Thursday performed its latest underage compliance check of 13 businesses. Those businesses were checked to ensure they were complying with laws on the books related to the sale of alcohol to those under the age of 21. Ten of those businesses were deemed to have been following the law while three failed to comply by selling alcohol to an underage buyer: Sgt. Josh Watson, supervisor of the Ordinance and Permits Unit, said those who sold alcohol to the underage buyers were cited for violating county ordinance 6-7 (b), which makes it unlawful to sell alcohol to people under …

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will participate in the national Take 25 initiative, which encourages parents to discuss safety with their children.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will take part in the nationwide Take 25 child safety campaign. The agency will hold two child safety events commemorating National Missing Children's Day. The events will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday May 4 at Central Park in Cumming and at 9 a.m to noon Saturday May 25 at Johns Creek Baptist Church on McGinnis Ferry Road in the southern part of the county. The man (pictured) is suspected of shoplifting more than $1500 worth of jewelry from the SuperTarget in south Forsyth County.
Investigators with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office have issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for the individual in the picture. The man is suspected of shoplifting more than $1500 worth of jewelry from the SuperTarget located at 2625 Peachtree Parkway in south Forsyth County on April 5 and April 8. He is believed to have left in a vehicle described as a blue, four-door sedan with a sunroof. The suspect is seen wearing a camouflage visor in both instances, authorities said. Four more businesses in Forsyth County have been cited for selling alcohol to minors.
A total of 13 local restaurants and businesses were cited for selling alcohol to underage patrons since March 21. The latest sting operation occurred on April 17 where 20 businesses were checked for compliance with laws and ordinances related to the sale of alcohol to minors. Sixteen businesses were found to be in compliance and the following four businesses failed. Those that sold alcohol to underage buyers were cited for a county ordinance violation, which states that it is unlawful for a person to sell alcohol to persons under the age of 21, according to Sgt.
