Forsyth Sheriff's Office Assists GBI in Child Porn Investigation

The office was one of 47 agencies who took part in the three-month investigation.

As a result of a three-month investigation coordinated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, search warrants were recently issued for the distribution of child porn over the Internet in 37 Georgia counties, according to a GBI press release. Just in time for April's National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the state-wide endeavor - known as "Operation Guarding Innocence" - included 50 teams representing 47 federal, state and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, including the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Reward Offered in Murder Case

Hannah Truelove, a Gainesville High School student, was found murdered behind Lake Lanier Club Apartments last August.

Governor Nathan Deal has signed an executive order authorizing a $1,000 reward for the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Hannah Truelove. Truelove, a Gainesville High School student, was found murdered behind Lake Lanier Club Apartments, where she lived with her mother, on Aug. 24, 2012. A resident discovered her body in a heavily wooded area between the apartment complex and Lake Lanier. Truelove had been stabbed multiple times. Public's Help Needed in Murder Case

The murder of a high school student last August near Lake Lanier remains unsolved.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and nearby Hall County Sheriff’s Office have renewed their request for the public assistance in the Hannah Truelove murder investigation, according to a press release sent out on Friday. Truelove, a Gainesville High School student, was found murdered behind Lake Lanier Club Apartments, where she lived with her mother, on Aug. 24, 2012. Authorities report that a resident discovered her body in a heavily wooded area between the apartment complex and Lake Lanier. She had been stabbed multiple times. Slain Business Owner's Funeral Set for Saturday

The funeral for Nelson Garner, the Cumming man who was found murdered in his deer processing business, is scheduled for Saturday.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. for the slain Cumming man whose body was found in Hancock County, Ga. over the weekend. The family of Nelson Garner, 60, will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until hour of the service. The funeral will also be held there. Garner's body was discovered by his brother in the deer processing business they both operated called Garner’s Grinder Sunday night around 9:30. The business is located in Sparta, Ga. (about 137 miles from Cumming, between Atlanta and Augusta). A 60-year-old Cumming man who operated a deer processing business was found murdered Sunday night.

A 60-year-old Cumming man was found murdered Sunday night in his deer processing business in Hancock County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The body of Nelson Garner was found by a relative around 9:30 p.m. at Garner’s Grinder located at 18630 Highway 16 in Sparta, Ga. (the business is located about 137 miles from Cumming, between Atlanta and Augusta).  Garner who operated and stayed at the business during hunting season, but was a resident of Cumming, was last seen alive at 4 p.m. yesterday [Sunday]. Forsyth County Completes Investigation of Human Remains Discovery

Sheriff's Office completes investigation of human remains that were discovered by a landscaper on Friday, Dec. 30.

The investigation stemming from the discovery of human remains found in a wooded area in the vicinity of Bluegrass Valley Parkway and McFarland Road on Friday, Dec. 30, has ended, according to authorities. Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the Criminal Investigation Division concluded its investigation on site on Saturday, Dec. 31. Investigators do know the remains are from a man of Hispanic origin. House said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will determine the age of the remains. The state forensic anthropologist, who was on site during the investigation, believed that the remains had been in the area for about 5 to 8 years. Forsyth County Authorities Investigating Teen's Death

The cause of death of the 15-year-old is unknown pending an autopsy and two adults remain in custody on unrelated charges.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy who was found unconscious in the backyard of a home located near Lake Lanier. According to the incident report, authorities arrived at 9035 Walnut Cove Court in Gainesville on Monday morning around 8:37 a.m. Prior to their arrival, EMS had taken Trey Scott Spencer, of Fairlane Trail, also in Gainesville, to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where he was pronounced dead. The incident report states authorities met with Robert Lancaster, 46, and his son Ethan Lancaster, 14. The younger Lancaster said that he and his friend Trey had been drinking bourbon, smoking marijuana, huffing dust cleaner and taking Klonopin (used to treat certain types of seizures and to …

A 15-year-old boy was found "unresponsive" in the backyard of a north Forsyth County home Monday morning and two adults have been arrested.

UPDATE: Nov. 29, 12:20 p.m. (mug shots, suspects remain in custody) The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy who was found unconscious in the backyard of a Gainesville home Monday morning. According to Major Dan Jagoe of the Criminal Investigations Division, authorities responded to a 911 call at a home on Walnut Cove Court located in the northern part of the county. The caller stated the young man was laying in the backyard and was unresponsive. Jagoe said in a new release that the teen boy was spending the night at the home of a friend when he was found unconscious. Police Seeking Missing Mom, Child from Nearby Johns Creek

Johns Creek Police Department and GBI investigating the disappearance of Lachella and Alexander Chapman.

The Johns Creek Police Department, in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is actively seeking the whereabouts of Lachella Marie Chapman and her 2-year-old son, Alexander Chapman.  The two have been missing since Aug. 26 from Windbrooke Way in nearby Johns Creek. Chapman’s mother reported the two missing after repeated attempts to contact them and finding the residence abandoned. Family and friends have told police that it is not like Chapman to leave with her whereabouts unknown. Authorities are concerned for the well-being of the missing child. Chapman is possibly driving a white 2007 Dodge Nitro, Georgia tag BKT 7962. She has ties in both Michigan and Washington state.  Authorities in those areas are working with …

Local Bank Gives Away Free Child ID Kits

Chase Bank is giving away free child identification kits Saturday, Aug. 13 to enable parents to have critical information in the event their child goes missing.

In an effort to promote child safety, Chase Bank will be distributing free Child Identification Kits Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its branch located on 5585 Atlanta Highway in nearby Alpharetta. Included in the kit will be a physical description of the child and a DNA sample. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to assist with photographing the child as well as fingerprinting (the other two parts of the kit).  These four components make up the critical information that is essential in the event a child becomes missing. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, that number is roughly 2,185 daily and 797,500 children a year.   The Center offers information on child safety on its Web site…
